With her old school vocals and gritty guitar-picking style, Coral Lee Farrow is one of Australia’s most exciting female singer/songwriters in the Americana roots tradition.
Influenced by artists such as Memphis Minnie, Maggie Sue Wimberly and Patsy Cline, Coral Lee has honed a unique blend of blues, jazz, rockabilly, country and swing in her evolution as a frontwoman. She has worked with a dynamic and varied line-up of some of Australia’s and Germany’s finest musicians including Ben Franz (The Waifs), David Cantrell, Til (Snappy) Vex, Andrew Lindsay, Gregor Gast, Michael (Humpty) Kirscht and Axel Praefcke to name a few.
Known for her rockin’ performances; upbeat, infectious songs; and authentic ’40s/’50s and early 60s sound, Coral Lee has won the respect of her fellow musicians as well as the hearts of fans in Europe and Australia.
Born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Coral Lee grew up with the sounds of Americana roots music throbbing like a steam train through her veins. She rode that sound south, all the way to Melbourne, where she found a home among its vibrant live music community.
Inspired by Australian bands such as Peter Baylor’s Roadhouse Romeos and Benny and the Fly-By Niters, Coral quickly found her feet, her direction, and a fantastic line-up of like-minded musicians who would help steer her swingin’ songs right into the heart of the country, rockabilly, blues and roots scene.
Coral Lee has played at many major festivals in Australia including Camperdown Cruise, GreazeFest, The Falls Festival and this year will be performing at the Atomic festival (UK). Her albums include the independently released Little Red Rider (2011) recorded at Hope Street Studios, and Rocky Road to Io which was recorded at Hailstone Studios and released on Bundoora Records in 2013.
Now based in Berlin, Coral Lee continues to collaborate, tour and record, always on a mission to take her dynamic sound to new heights and, most importantly, get toes tapping on the dancefloor! Her latest LP The Weather Vane is OUT NOW! on Rhythm Bomb records, February 2016. Watch this space …

"14 tracks - Brandnew album by Australian singer Coral Lee! A mixture of classic Rockabilly, early 60s Rock'n'Roll, Country Blues and almost spheric Americana elements! Brilliant songwriting and the whole album has a fantastic atmosphere! If you exspect 14 steamhammer Boppers, you'll be diappointed even there are many uptempos included for sure but if you enjoy the different styles of 1950s music and if you don't fear slower songs, because your buddies would call you a 'chicken', that's the right stuff for you! Coral Lee is backed up by the Lightning Recorders crew and the whole album is a real treat from the beginning up to the end! Five stars all the way!"
